Privacy policy

This policy covers the ticker.box website and the Ticker Box itself. The short version: the Ticker Box sends us nothing, and we only collect what we need to answer your messages and build and ship your order.
Your Ticker Box
- It sends us nothing. There's no account, no central server and no analytics or usage reports.
- Your details stay on the device. Your Wi-Fi password, location, settings and photos are stored on the Ticker Box itself. A factory reset erases them.
- It fetches public information directly from independent services, such as market, weather, sports and news sources. Like any website you visit, those services see your internet address when the Ticker Box contacts them. The full list is in the Owner's Manual.
- Your location is sent only as map coordinates, to the weather service, to get your forecast. Detect from IP shares your internet address with ip-api to look up your city, and only when you tap it.
- Software updates are downloaded from GitHub, and only when you tap Check for update.
Visiting this website
The site is hosted by Vercel, which handles the technical details of each request, such as your internet address, to deliver the page. We use Vercel Web Analytics to count visits. It uses no cookies and records page views anonymously: the page, where you came from, your approximate location, and your device type, browser and operating system. Visitors are told apart only by a hash of the request, which is discarded after 24 hours. We set no cookies of our own.
Messages you send us
When you use the contact form, we receive your name (if you give it), your email address and your message. It reaches us by email through our email provider, Resend. We use it only to reply to you.
Orders
Checkout is handled by Stripe. Stripe collects your card details; we never see your full card number. We receive your name, email address, billing address and shipping address, and use them to build and ship your order, to email you about it, and to keep the records the law requires. We give your name and shipping address to the shipping carrier so your Ticker Box can be delivered. Stripe's own use of your information is covered by the Stripe privacy policy.
What we don't do
We don't sell or rent your information, share it for advertising, or send marketing emails. We only email you about your order or in reply to you.
How long we keep it
We keep order records for as long as we need them for your order and for tax and legal requirements, and messages for as long as we need them to help you.
Your choices
Email support@ticker.box to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. We'll delete everything except records the law requires us to keep.
Children
This website isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
